About Logic Times

Site Premise

There are objective truths in life.  In the complex human world, there is rarely a direct evidentiary trail that reveals a particular reality or objective truth, such as with DNA testing or ballistics.  The difficulty in getting to objective truth does not mean that it does not exist or that the door should be opened to accepting relative opinion or intense emotion in place of truth.  In the absence of direct evidence, hidden objective truths must be uncovered employing indirect or circumstantial evidence, and Reason – the capacity for logical, rational and analytic thought – is the tool that must be used in understanding this hidden reality.  By prodding with our minds, by consulting history, by examining statistics, and through trial and error, the hidden objective truth can be uncovered. Logic Times exists to facilitate this effort.

How Postings Will Be Managed

There are many political web logs out there.  Rather than adopt the universal blog format, which generally includes instant, unedited posting of comments, Logic Times feedback will be moderated and will instead feature only well-reasoned comments after editorial review.  I do not criticize the traditional blog format, which has captivated me for many hours; those options remain open elsewhere.

Essay Challenges

If a comment takes the form of a particularly well-reasoned challenge, that comment will be highlighted in the body of the original essay and allotted its own page for proper consideration and further comment. The designation for an Essay Challenge will this icon in the body of the original essay.

Submitting Comments
