Politics and the Presidency
Summary: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq." John Kerry, during a campaign rally for California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides, October 30, 2006 Commentary by Aslan, 10/31/06, 6:45pm. Comments (0)
Summary: The final ingredient in William’s simple stew is consensus. Everyone in the electorate wants illegal immigration stopped – and not "nice" stopped, but stopped in a big way, with walls and guards and deportations and rude gestures at Vicente Fox. Subtlety and partisan disagreement are not in play here, as with almost all other political issues. If the United States were not a representative republic and a referendum were on the ballot tomorrow to construct a massive wall topped with broken glass and razor wire along every inch of the border, it would pass easily. Summary: The naiveté of the Betrayed Conservative clumsily intervenes and, like a large, witless boy in a brawl, head down and arms swinging wildly, strikes friend and foe alike. By adding their shrill voice to the debate, the first accomplishment of the Betrayed Conservative is to immolate all Republicans, paradoxically jeopardizing the opportunity for conservative government because of their exasperation with liberal government. Commentary by Aslan, 4/29/06, 6:00pm. Comments (9)
Summary: "Outcome-based education (OBE) is an educational philosophy that states that education ought to be aimed at producing particular educational outcomes" (Wikipedia Encyclopedia). The Reform Ohio Now proposals are an example of promoting Outcome-based elections, which is an electoral philosophy that states that elections ought to be aimed at producing a particular electoral outcome. If you subject yourself to the full language of the amendment, you will find that this is a proposal that will require by law for elections to be close. Outcome-based education has apparently produced its first dividend in the real world: Outcome-based elections. Commentary by Aslan, 11/5/05, 1:46am. Comments (2)
Summary: Showing an electoral map savvy that they disdained in 2000, the same liberal activists who paid election workers in drugs to register cartoon characters has upgraded their Buckeye State operations in 2005. A group called Reform Ohio Now has placed 4 issues on the Ohio ballot that would eliminate the need for Mary Poppins and Dick Tracy to trudge to the polls in 2008; appointed officials, armed with generous balloting measures, would be at the helm to ensure a "fair" election. Commentary by Aslan, 11/03/05, 11:46pm. Comments (3)
Summary: Bush chose Roberts, I believe, as much for his ability to withstand the confirmation process as for his conservative legal credentials. Commentary by Aslan, July 20, 2005.
Summary: President George Bush is currently using this military tactic of ruse, deception, and Psyops against a remarkably dogmatic, shallow thinking, reactionary opponent: The Democratic Party of the 109th Congress. The Democrats, not unlike the Iraqis is Gulf Storm, or the German's in the ruse at Calais, have shown themselves to be extraordinarily impressionable to Psyops strategies. Commentary by Logos, 03/22/05. Comments (2)
Summary: Social Security should be eliminated. The federal government has no business managing a compulsory national retirement plan (and no constitutional authority to do so). Commentary by Aslan, 03/13/05. Comments (2)
Summary: As a Biologist and astute observer of our political system it is very interesting to see evolutionary biological parallels in our political system, particularly with the Democrats and the Democratic Party. Why is that the Democrats at every turn, vehemently deny that they are the party of wealth redistribution, the party of progressive secularism, the party of antimilitary, pro-tax, big government agenda? Why not just step up to the plate like the Liberal Socialist Europeans have done decades ago, and call themselves what they really are: The Socialist Party. Commentary by Logos, 11/08/04. Summary: How can the majority of Americans recognize the truth of our President’s decency where a vocal, yet educated, minority sees only unbridled evil? It is simple: elite liberals do not believe in honesty and decency, certainly not in conservatives. Decency, defined as “the quality of conforming to standards of propriety and morality” has at its roots the absolute morality of the Creator. The rejection of God by the liberal elite has not only cast them into the relative moral abyss that consumes civilizations, it has endowed them with such a suffocating skepticism of honorable behavior that, in defiance of Occam’s Razor, they mutilate and twist reality to cobble together fantasies of presidential evil. Summary: What is uniquely at stake on November second: a great prize – an infusion of life – awaits the Left if they win, and an ignoble decline awaits them if they lose. That is why, in large part, they hate George W. Bush – he is gatekeeper of their fate and they know it. Commentary by Aslan, 10/26/04. Comments (2)
Summary: If you sat a group of hard-core Democrat operatives in a room together and asked them to build from scratch an "acceptable" Republican, what would they create? First of all, you would have to convince them that such an animal as a Republican was necessary, let alone could be made acceptable. But, for the sake of our analysis, assume these Democrats were in a charitable mood and recognized that while all Republicans are generally distasteful, some are better than others. One might point to their stable of pet Republicans such as McCain, Snowe and Chaffee to prove this point. To really elicit squeals of delight, the name Jim Jeffords could be whispered for effect.
